Heavy bag training is perhaps the most famous form of boxing training. It’s a great way to get in shape, improve your cardio, power, and combinations. Heavy bags are often the first training tools boxing gyms purchase for obvious reasons. Many other folks such as amateur boxers and people boxing for fitness also have started buying heavy bags to train at home and really reap the benefits of this piece of equipment.

If this is your case, then let me tell you that it’s important that you purchase a decent punching bag. This list has been made for people looking for a good heavy bag that costs less than $100. Without further ado, these are the best heavy bags under $100 on the market!

Things To Look For In A Heavy Bag

First of all, I think it’s important to know what you should be looking for in a heavy bag. The quality of the average $100 punching bag is very deficient, especially when you look at the materials, so because of this, make sure you keep these points in mind when shopping for one.

  • Materials: If you are going to be buying a heavy bag soon, then you really must make sure the materials used are as top-notch as possible. Ideally, the bag should be covered in high-quality leather or vinyl, the chain or nylon straps used should be as thick as possible.
  • Sizing: This is something that you must pay close attention to. Buying a bag that hangs too high or too low and can’t be adjusted might prove to be a problem if you are very tall or very short.
  • Weight: Weight is another thing to keep in mind. I personally prefer the bag to be heavy (about 100 pounds is ok) because the heavier the bag is the harder it is to swing as you hit it. The weight depends on what the bag is filled with. If it’s filled with textiles, the bag isn’t that heavy and it feels softer when you hit it. If it’s filled with sand, the bag is much heavier and feels hard when you punch it.

#1 Everlast 100-Pound Nevatear Heavy Bag – Awesome punching bag for the money

Everlast 100-Pound Nevatear Heavy Bag

Out of all the heavy bags that I have had the privilege of hitting, this one stands as one of the best. It has everything that you would want in an affordable punching bag, including very high-quality synthetic leather which will last a long time, an adjustable chain, and an old-school styling that many boxers adore, including myself. In short, if you are on the lookout for a high-quality bag that is about a hundred bucks, then look no further. You can’t go wrong with this one.

One of the things that I love about this bag is the synthetic leather that they use for the covering. It sounds awesome when you hit it hard, and the internal filling of this bag does a good job of absorbing the punches you throw at it. Everlast used excellent materials for this bag, and they will surely last you several years without any issues. Synthetic leather has its pros over natural leather, one of them being the fact that you don’t need to take care of it as much as the real stuff.

Another big pro of this bag: it looks so cool! This bag has the traditional Everlast logo, and when combined with the brown covering and simple looks of it, you have a very good looking product reminiscent of the punching bags used in the 50s. This bag would look right at home, in your garage or even in an old-school boxing gym. The bag cost $100 without the holder last time I checked. You can check the current price on Amazon.com.

PROS CONS
✔ Synthetic leather used is very high-quality and sounds great
✔ Awesome old-school styling that most boxers will love
✔ Super satisfying sound when you hit the bag hard
✘ The bag has straps (rather than chains). The chains can hold much more weight

#2 RDX Punch Bag for Boxing Training – Premium Feel, Accessible Price

RDX Punch Bag for Boxing Training

Another excellent punching bag, RDX didn’t skimp with the quality of this product. The end result is a very high-quality punching bag that feels much more expensive than what the price tag suggests. The filler material is super soft, and while it doesn’t sound as good as the Everlast bag above, this one’s more affordable. If you want to buy the Everlast bag but don’t want to pay what it costs, then take a look at this one!

RDX has years creating quality boxing gear, and now they have really upped the ante when it comes to affordable punching bags. As soon as you see this bag in person, you will notice how well made it feels and looks. The D-shackles are made from high-quality metal that will stand the test of time, the material used to fill the bags will absorb blows really well, and the styling is a stark contrast to the old-school look of the Everlast bag above.

Another thing that I must mention about this bag is the fact that it doesn’t sound as loud when you hit it when compared to the bag above. This might be a pro or a con depending on your situation. If you are going to be using this bag in your garage and want something that is as quiet as possible, then this bag is a great choice. But if you want to have as much feedback as possible when you punch a heavy bag, then this bag might not be for you. Click here to see the bag on the RDX website (I think there is a 10% discount for your first purchase).

PROS CONS
✔ Very well made bag, with premium materials throughout
✔ More affordable than the Everlast bag above
✔ MMA-inspired styling is a stark contrast to the old-school looks of many bags on the market
✘ Doesn’t sound as good as the first choice

#3 Best Choice Products Punching Bag – Generic Overachiever

Best Choice Products Punching Bag

Another great product. This heavy bag from Best Choice Products is ideal for lighter boxers with less body weight. This is because this is a 52-pound bag, which is pretty light for modern standards. Aside from that, this bag also distinguishes itself by the ease of installation and use. It comes standard with a wall-mounted rack that you install to a wall, making this a great choice if you want a beginner bag for working out in your basement or garage. Highly recommended!

I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t know anything about this gear brand before getting this punching bag. I thought they were just a cheap Chinese knockoff, but that is not the case. While this is meant to be an entry-level product, they did a great job with the small details. The metal used on the wall-mounted rack is very sturdy, especially when you install it the proper way, and while the styling of this bag is too generic for my taste, there are some other folks that will really appreciate the lack of showy logos or loud designs.

There are a few reasons why this bag is in third place, and one of them is the fact that the build quality is inferior when compared to the RDX and Everlast bags above. This bag is a little bit cheaper than both of them, but I think the RDX and Everlast bags provide more bang for your buck, especially when used long term. I would recommend that you choose one of those 2, but if you are on a very tight budget and need a wall-mounted rack, then this heavy bag isn’t a bad choice either. Check the availability on Amazon.com.

PROS CONS
✔ Wall-mounted rack makes this ideal for people looking to train in their garages or basement
✔ Pretty well made for the price
✔ Very affordable choice
✘ Decent quality, but not as good as the first 2 choices
✘ Generic styling

#4 Jayefo Trexter Heavy Punching Bag – Made From Real Leather!

Jayefo Trexter Heavy Punching Bag

Another worthy heavy bag from a new manufacturer, I would recommend that you buy this bag if you are on the lookout for something made from authentic leather and need something that will hold a lot of pounds. However, there’s something that many people won’t like about this product, and that is the fact that it comes unfilled. If you are going to buy this, then you are going to have to get the filling material yourself, which might be either sand or textiles. Still a great punching bag, just not for everybody.

When it comes to the product itself, one of the things that I most like about it is the natural leather that they use. Many boxing manufacturers are starting to use synthetic materials that have the added advantage of being much easier to maintain, but many boxers complain that these synthetic leathers do not sound or feel the same as the real stuff. This particular bag uses authentic leather which sounds amazing when you hit it, and as long as you take care of it properly and consistently, it lasts just as long, if not longer than synthetics. It also smells really good too!

But aside from the leather, this product is just ok. Instead of using metal links to hold the bag, it uses nylon straps. The pricing is another consideration. This isn’t super cheap, especially considering the fact that it comes unfilled. It’s still much less than $100 dollars though (check the current price on Amazon.com), so most people will be able to fit it in their budget, but you might want to buy another bag to avoid the hassle of getting the filling material separately.

PROS CONS
✔ Uses authentic leather as it’s covering
✔ Can hold a lot of pounds
✔ Sounds amazing when you hit it (when filled with sand)
✘ Comes unfilled
✘ Doesn’t sound as great if you fill it with clothing or rags
✘ Not that affordable, especially when you consider that it comes unfilled and that the build quality isn’t that great

#5 Last Punch Heavy Duty Punching Bag – Ultra Cheap Heavy Bag

Last Punch Heavy Duty Punching Bag

The most affordable punching bag of this list. This punching bag isn’t perfect, but the price tag is so attractive that you can’t help but have a serious look at it. It comes unfilled which sucks, but at least you can fill it up with pretty much everything, including old clothes, torn rags, and of course sand. Anyways, if you are on a super tight budget and really want a heavy bag to start training right away, this one might be worth a look. However, keep in mind that this product is cheap for a reason.

As I said above, the calling card of this bag is the pricing of it. Is it perhaps the only one under 50 bucks, which is bonkers when it comes to that piece of gear, but the problem with it comes with the fact that it comes unfilled. Many folks won’t fill it with sand, instead of filling it with old clothes. If you are going to do this, let me tell you that this bag will feel really mushy when you hit it and it will not sound very well. Check out the reviews on Amazon.com to see what most people use to fill the bag.

Also, Last Punch used cheap canvas as the cover for this bag, which doesn’t produce too much sound when you hit it as I said above. The stitching isn’t very well done either, but you can’t really ask for that much at this price point. A decent bag, but I would recommend that you buy either the #1 or #2 choice, especially if you have a few extra bucks.

PROS CONS
✔ Ultra affordable heavy bag   ✘ Comes unfilled
✘ Very crappy sound when hit
✘ Poor build quality

#6 Everlast P00001222 40LB Heavy Bag Heavy Punching Bag – Premium Feel, Light Weight

Everlast 40LB Heavy Bag Heavy Punching Bag

This is perhaps one of the best punching bags for smaller boxers. If you are under 5 foot 7 or under 140 pounds, then you can’t go wrong with this punching bag. It is really well made, typical of Everlast products. A great bag, but it’s not for everybody though. If you are a heavier boxer or you tend to punch really hard, you should buy the 100 lb Everlast bag above instead.

Officially, this bag is 31 inches tall. Bobbing and weaving under this bag is very possible, especially if you are shorter than most other boxers. This makes it perhaps the perfect bag for lighter fighters. Bigger boxers will probably make this bag move too much, which makes combination punching a bit harder for them.

One thing that I didn’t like about this bag is that it doesn’t sound too satisfying when you hit it. Many boxers find this to be a bit overrated, but I personally appreciate a bag that gives me some feedback on how well I’m hitting it. If this is your case, you might want to try a different one instead, like the first Everlast bag I posted above. Click here to see the bag on Amazon.com.

PROS CONS
✔ Great choice for lighter & smaller fighters
✔ Great build quality, especially when you consider the price
✘ Doesn’t give you much feedback when you hit it, especially on the sound department
✘ Bigger boxers might not be satisfied with the light weight of this punching bag

#7 FITVEN Heavy Bag for Adults – A bit too expensive for what you get

FITVEN Heavy Bag for Adults

A pretty decent heavy bag. This bag distinguishes itself because of the fact that it’s pretty tall, making this a good choice if it’s going to be used for boxers of different sizes. This bag weighs 50 pounds, making this a good choice for lighter or female boxers and also those who want a heavy bag that moves a lot. However, this product is a little bit too expensive for what you get, at least in my opinion. The build quality also leaves a bit to be desired.

This bag is unusually big when compared to most of the bags on this list, which is really weird when you consider the fact that this holds only a maximum of 50 pounds. Many people are going to really appreciate this. It also tends to swivel back and forth constantly. This makes it a good choice for people looking to improve their footwork while punching. Check the availability of the bag on Amazon.com

But aside from that, I honestly wasn’t too satisfied with this heavy bag. It isn’t terrible, but there are better-built bags out there. This is a list of the best affordable bags, but when it comes to that, the truth is that this bag is quite expensive. Like a few other bags on this list, this bag should only be bought by a specific buyer: somebody looking for a bag that moves a lot or somebody looking for a big, but a light bag.

PROS CONS
✔ Unusually tall heavy bag, very easy to hit
✔ Great choice of bag is going to be used by boxers of diverse sizes
✘ A little expensive
✘ Build quality isn’t very good, especially when considering the price tag of this heavy bag
